With the first month of the year now under our belts and, it
seems only natural that we look towards springtime. Countless magazines,
award shows and online previews are already making our wish lists
increase and our bank balances decrease. But before you splurge on a new
spring wardrobe and forget that your wages are meant to last more than a
weekend, take a look at these top five spring trends for 2013:
1. Neon
Just
when you thought they wouldn't come back into fashion, they have! This
spring, neon will be popping up everywhere from jumpers to jumpsuits,
and trenches to trainers. To embrace the neon trend without seeming like
a 90s raver, opt for neon accessories. Clutch bags, watches and even
bracelets are an understated way to incorporate neon into your wardrobe.
2. Stripes
Stripes
have been going strong for some time now, so you probably already have a
striped top or two in your wardrobe, which should save you a pretty
penny. But if you can't hold back and want to invest in a new striped
item this year, then perhaps it would be worth considering a monochrome
striped dress. This way, you can kill two trends with one stone, by
donning monochrome stripes. Look for Oscar de la Renta inspired dresses
from the high street for a pretty, polished look.
3. Emerald
Make
sure you're not green with envy this season by embracing emerald.
Emerald has officially been named Pantone's colour of 2013 and had been
described as a colour of "elegance and beauty." This can only mean that
in a matter of weeks, there will be floods of emerald coloured clothing along the high street. Whether your budget is big or small, you're bound to find an emerald piece that's perfect for you.
4. Metallic Colours
A
tricky trend to master, metallic colours are here to stay throughout
the spring, and possibly even the summer, season. It's clear that
designers are joining together when it comes to this trend, as metallic
colours have been seen on both men's and women's catwalk from the likes
of Burberry, Versace and Lavin. Those who want to make a statement will
have a wealth of choice from all of the bright metallic colours. And for
those who prefer a low-key look, there are softer and more muted
metallic colours to pick from. It's a win-win for everyone.
5. Floral Print
Floral prints
have always been a no-brainer for spring, and this year is no
exception. But it is the way that floral print clothing has been worn
down the catwalk that makes this year's floral print so interesting.
Masculine shaped blazers are immediately softened by floral prints, and
designers have also been experimenting with iridescent floral print
fabrics to create an elegant feminine look.
